Vitthalrao Patil Mahavidyalaya[VPM] is a degree [Arts, Commerce &Science] college situated in Kale, the western region (belongs to Konkan Area) of Panhala tahsil in Kolhapur District in Maharashtra State. The college is named after Indian born Shri Vitthal Shankar Patil, the institute founder, who devoted honestly towards education for all (castes, creeds, religions etc.) in society. The college has got Permanent Affiliation by Shivaji University, Kolhapur on 22 April 2014.

The college has only senior section. The senior wing offers bachelor’s degrees in 7 disciplines [Arts], 2 disciplines [Commerce], 6 disciplines [Science], spanning languages, humanities, social sciences, commerce creative sciences. The post-graduation in M A and M Com [Distant Education, Shivaji University, and Kolhapur] degrees are also made available for who deserves for higher education. In addendum, college availed pre preparation for degree and degree courses in Arts and Commerce of Yashawantrao Chavan Maharashatra Open University, Nashik [Maharashtra].It provide atheletic and culture facilities for students.

Vitthalrao Patil Mahavidyalaya is known for its close association with region need particularly educational. Its founder is amongst the pioneers of love, eagerness for education and society literacy and development. The college has produced thousands of graduates. It is to be noteworthy to state here that this college has been granted as ‘Special Case’ for Local and Gramin (Rural) Higher Education by Maharashtra Government in year 2000. The college is recognized by UGC New Delhi under 2 (F) and 12 (B) on 2 Dec. 2014. It receives the financial help from UGC for the construction of campus, buildings and general development.

More than 4 acres campus of the college is located in the heart of the ‘Saucer’ shaped natural sight covered with mountains, hills, valley, river and hygienic climate in Kale. It is fully polution free.

During the period 1985-86, there was a pressing need to modernize the education system to fight against ill literacy, traditional education system and to introduce scientific, research oriented higher education throughout India as a Higher Education Ploicy matter by Govt. of India. The Local educational lover Vitthal Patil put his efforts into the formation of a Sanstha for Kale region [Dhamni and Kasari Khora] people. The result was into New Prathmic Vidyalaya, Vitthal Patil Madhymic Vidyalaya and Jr. College, Shankar Patil English Medium School, Yashawant Semi English School, Mahatama Magasvargiy Vidhyarthi Vastigrah, D Ed College, Vitthalrao Patii Khajgi Audyogic Prashikshan Kendra, Vitthalrao Patil Mahavidyalay, Kale. Boosted by its success, Shri Datta Shikshan Prasarak Mandal was formed on 6th Nov. 1985 and a decade later Vitthalrao Pati lMahavidyalaya (2000) was founded. The V PM in Kale is in between State Sub High Way Kolhapur – Gaganbawda and Bajar-Bhogav on the west side of Panhala Tahsil. The college was inaugurated by Shri Vasant S Alwekar, the local social worker and lover of education.

Rules And Regulation Of the College

Students are subject to rules and code of contact framed by the authorities of the College. It shall be the duty of every student to conduct him/her with decorum in all places and circumstances.

  • Every student shall always wear his/her identity card within the campus and present it for inspection on demand.
  • The College begins at 7:30 am and closes at 12:30 pm with a recess for 10 minutes between 10-10.10 am. At the first bell, students should go to their respective classes. If any student is identified as a regular late comer, Parents will be called for explanation. No students should leave the class room during a lecture without the permission of the teacher.
  • Possessing/Using mobile phones, cigarettes, narcotic substances and alcohol is strictly prohibited. Any student found consuming alcohol/smoking in the campus will be expelled immediately.
  • Each student shall conduct herself/himself, both within and outside the campus of the college; each student shall show due respect and courtesy to the staff, administrators, visitors, support staff and to fellow students.
  • Lack of courtesy and decorum, in conduct within and outside the college, willful damage to college property, removal of any property belonging to the college, follow students or other personnel of the college, use of abusive and offensive language disturbing follow students in their studies, breach of rules and regulations of the college, adoption of noisy and unruly behavior shall constitute violation of the code of conduct.
  • Students should not resort to any unlawful activity that will disrupt the peaceful academic atmosphere within campus. Severe action will be taken against those who indulge in such unlawful activities.
  • Any student who fails to clear all the payment dues shall be debarred from appearing examination.
  • Students must make all possible efforts to conserve electricity and water. They must switch off light & fans when they leave the class room/lab etc Students must help to keep the college neat and clean.
  • Students shall observe all safety precautions. Students coming to college either by two/four wheeler must possess the driving license. The college is not responsible for any accident of whatever nature, in the college and outside.
  • Students should dress neatly and decently.
  • Students are prohibited to take part in ragging, political activity or any activity which is detrimental to the dignity of the college. Any student found violating the rule or bringing distracts to the institution will be expelled from the college.
  • The attendance requirement for University of Shivaji is 75% to be eligible for appearing in the University Examination. However the college insists on at least 85% attendance to facilitate in getting maximum marks in each subject.
  • Any accident, chronic sickness or long leave on medical grounds should be reported immediately to the Principal through the class teacher.
  • Outside the college especially during train or bus travelling railway station or bus stand or any other place which is near to the college campus besides affecting the reputation of the college has an impact on the students’ community. The college reserves the rights to take such action and make such rules are necessary in the interesting of the general student community to deal such behavior.
  • Students should not invite or meet stranger/unauthorized persons inside the campus without permission from the authorities.
  • Students should not permitted to participate in Live or photographic modeling, fashion show, stage shows and any TV programms without prior permission from the authorities.
